FAQs

Just some of the questions that you might have. For anything else please get in touch, I’m always happy to help.

  • Even though I’m based mainly in the UK, I work with clients and couples all over the world, offering always a free consultation done over a video call at a time that suits you. You can book some time in my calendar here.

  • Unfortunately not.
The creation of a bespoke product needs to account for all the different factors such as techniques, papers, inks and time employed to name a few.
Once we have discussed in more detail your project I will build your estimate based on your preferences and requirements.

  • The earlier the better really!
I know that planning a wedding is not an easy task and you might want to wait until all of the details are ready before getting in touch, but it’s useful to get to know each other as early as possible.
Even if most details aren’t set in stone, having an understanding of what you’re after and rough numbers will allow me to give you an estimate of the costs so that you don’t find yourself disappointed at the last moment.
Getting in touch early is also important as the creation of a bespoke suite can take a good amount of weeks and as an artisan, I can only take a certain amount of work.

  • Handmade invitations are what sets me apart from other stationery designers.

For each project I take on, there is a large part of research and study before moving onto the design stage which is 90% of the time made with pencil and paper and the remaining 10% on a graphic tablet, but always hand-sketched.

  • Depending on your requirements and preferences I can offer two solutions for your stationery.

    Fully Handmade Stationery
The most luxurious option for clients who aim to gift themselves and their guests not only with a bespoke design, but with original pieces of art.

Choosing to go for a fully handmade stationery set means that each piece of the suite will be slightly different from each other as it’s in the nature of an artisanal product.
If you’re thinking to go for this option, please do get in touch as soon as possible as it’s the one that requires the most time.

    Hybrid Stationery
Combining your bespoke design with modern or traditional printing techniques, getting the best of both worlds.

With an hybrid stationery set, you’ll still get a unique design but instead of being hand-painted for each of your guests, it will be digitised and sent to print on quality paper.
This option is particularly popular for large weddings or events or when time is limited.

  • You might have come across some products online that have some details finished with a shiny effect, whether in gold, silver or other colours.

Most of the times, especially for large print runs, you’re looking at hot foiling.

    Hot or block foiling
Hot foiling is the traditional way of adding sparkling details to paper, leather and similar materials.
To start the process, a metal plate needs to be created with the design of the parts that you’ll want to have the foil on.
The plate is then heated up and when ready, a metal foil (gold, silver or any other color you wanted) it’s placed between the plate and the paper or final product that you want to foil, and pressure is applied.

The heat allows the foil to stick to the product and because of the pressure applied in the process the foiled section might result a little debossed (or impressed) in the final product.

    • Digital Foiling
It’s the preferred option for short print runs, and instead of using the heated plate to stick the foiling to the product, it uses special inks or varnishes that will work as a ‘glue’.

The result of digital foiling is flatter compared to the traditional method as there’s no pressure required.

Digital foiling works only on super-smooth paper stocks.

    Gilding
Gilding is the original and most traditional way to apply a metallic leaf (real gold, silver or other precious metals) to paper or parchment.

I offer this service as a hand-finish option, using either real gold and platinum or imitation metallic leaves.

  • You would need one invite per household.
Depending on which option you go for, I always recommend to add some spares (5 to 10) as they might be for last minute guests and whether printed or handmade accounting for them upfront will save you money and stress from last minute changes.
